I realize that I haven’t updated anything in a while, and all of my recent posts have been SUPER lame. So I’ll try and come up with something better now. Besides, it’s nearing the end of the semester, and apathy’s kicking in concerning those finals . . .
In addition to finals, Christmas is coming. Gosh, am I getting sick of “All I Want for Christmas is You!” Don’t get me wrong, a lot of Christmas music is very well-arranged (Handel’s Messiah, anyone?). It’s just that pop shit that’s played on the radio that really drives me wild.
My parents are really getting on my case because I don’t want anything for Christmas. Er . . . I haven’t told them anything I want for Christmas. I don’t even want to celebrate the holiday; it’s not as if I believe in any of the reasons for the day. I’m only agreeing to celebrate it because I consider it a secular holiday. Really, what with the cheesy music, decorations, Santa, etc. there is little to no Jesus involved in Christmas.
What I actually want for Christmas is a donation to the Richard Dawkins Foundation in my name. I’m not sure how to go about asking for that . . . I feel like that’s rubbing in that I don’t accept the nonsense called Christianity. And I want some books, but I like to pick those out myself.
Maybe I’m just weird, but asking for any gift in general just feels like a greedy process to me. Isn’t Christianity supposed to preach against that? Isn’t Christmas supposed to be about giving, sharing, helping those in need, rather than receiving (even though the entire year should be like that . . .)? Then why the hell do millions of Americans, these so-called Christians, go out the day after Thanksgiving to shop for themselves? Black Friday – it’s madness! Getting to stores a day in advance to get a shirt on sale? And a Wal-Mart employee was even killed last year because some consumers couldn’t bear to wait a few seconds to get their hands on material shit! And still more go out this year! Ridiculous! Is this really what Christianity has come to? And I thought I thought I hated the dogma.
Either way, I’m certainly not celebrating Christmas next year.

Today marks the 150th anniversary of Origin of Species. I’m super excited about it; I’m celebrating with waffles.
And, the obnoxious girl who sits next to me in biology is gone!
It’s just a good day in general.

I realized today that I will have biology on Tuesday, which marks the 150th anniversary of The Origin of Species’ first publication. While I’d love to have a party in class instead of doing work, my teacher is a hardcore Bible thumper. She really lets her faith interfere with her teaching, and that’s her biggest downfall . . . But anyway. I’m afraid to even mention Charles Darwin, because I don’t want my grade to suffer. Um?
That’s all. Now back to all that Calculus I’ve been putting off . . .

A little while ago, I had come across the question of love as an illusion (The Picture of Dorian Gray). Here’s my opinion.
The way I see it, love is neither an illusion nor an emotion. However, infatuation can be both. Prior to love, one sees what he wants to see, as a result of the emotional desire. That elated feeling? That’s not love; that’s infatuation. Love reaches past that. Love is when one chooses to see beyond the illusion by accepting the differences. Not only in other people, but for everything.
I could probably write more on this, but frankly, it’s a boring subject.

The House of Reps. officially passed the health care bill. I couldn’t be happier right now. [Well, except when the Senate passes it as well . . .] But anyway. Health care. Woo! 220-215!
Also, thanks to Joseph Cao for being the only Republican to vote for the bill. It made my day that there was at least one to do that.
Now on to the Senate . . .
If you believe it will help, pray or something. . .
